Administration of Justice Studies Major Guide 2024-2025

Coconino Community College

Administration of justice majors study the causes and consequences of crime and the role of criminal justice agencies in controlling it. In this discipline, students will study:

  • The criminal justice system including prisons and corrections, courts, probation, law enforcement agencies, and juvenile justice systems.
  • Crime and justice as it applies to specific populations including juveniles, women, and diverse ethnic groups.
  • Patterns and causes of crime in global issues such as immigration, border security, terrorism, and environmental crime.

Administration of justice majors learn how sociology, psychology, biology, and economics influence criminal actions. Students will also explore how cultural and political issues are related to criminal justice as well as the influence and impact of media on the justice system.
