Objectives: | Competency 1 Explore the evolution of photography as an art form evaluating the form and content of a variety of photographic images and trends throughout history
Objective 1.1 Examine the historical evolution of photography from its roots in the camera obscura to present day, discussing the changing methods of capturing images as well as the content/meaning of individual pieces in their cultural context. Objective 1.2 Produce images using stylistic forms & techniques used by artists from various periods Objective 1.3 Compare and contrast individual artistic trends in photography and take photographs that reflect influence by these trends Competency 2: Demonstrate the use of digital equipment, creating photographs that reflect an understanding of settings and lighting Objective 2.1 Apply basic camera settings such as auto or manual mode, aperture, exposure, shutter speed, scene modes, macro, focus, white balance, and specify the functional differences between focal length groups, manual focus and auto focus as well as metering techniques. Objective 2.2 Develop a creative interpretation and personal style, composing and taking photographs as well as using digital darkroom applications to alter photographic images for artistic expression Objective 2.3 Assign exposure compensations for weather conditions and light angles for artistic expression demonstrating basic knowledge of altering photographs using the digital darkroom & digital imaging software such as cropping, straightening, red eye, spot removal, corrections, contrast, color, masking, photo filters, and alternate process photography. Objective 2.4 Determine basic lighting qualities and settings for use in a variety of situations such as camera flash settings, artificial or natural light, indoor, outdoor, and nighttime slow exposure. Competency 3 Critique form & content of photography relating to the study of artistic style or expression for exhibition. Objective 3.1 Participate in critiques, and peer reviews using appropriate photographic terms and vocabulary. Objective 3.2 Create a digital or actual portfolio for presentation or exhibition |
