Program Notes:
Students must earn a grade of C or better for all courses required within the program. Preplanning with an Academic Advisor is strongly recommended. Actual course selection will be completed in consultation with the Program Director. This program is delivered applying workforce simulated work hours and activities.

Admission Criteria: Formal application and admission to the program is required.
Completion of Program Prerequisites.
Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Have the ability to fully participate in classroom, laboratory, and clinical setting program activities.
Submit current CPR card for Health Care Provider (American Heart Association approved) and maintain current status throughout the externship(s).
Complete and submit the required proof of immunity and health declaration form signed by a licensed health care provider.

Background Check Requirements
Admission to an Allied Health program requires that students be in compliance with the Maricopa County Community College District Supplemental Background Check policy. Program applications will not be accepted without a copy of an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. Upon conditional program admission, the student must comply with all requirements of the current MCCCD background check policy.

Students also seeking the AAS in Medical Assisting may enroll in General Education Course. Students should consult with an Academic Advisor or the Program Director prior to submission of the Medical Assisting Program Application.

HCC130 (3.0) is waived for students who have completed an Associate in Applied Science degree or higher degree in a health science discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher education recognized by the Maricopa Community Colleges.

This program is delivered in a "fast-track" format and the need for college level skills in English and Reading is critical to successful completion of the program.

Although the CCL does not require a Mathematics course for the completion, students must have competency/skills in Elementary Algebra for acceptance into the program.

Must have course placement test results reflecting the following scores or higher:
English: Accuplacer/Companion score of 90; Writerplacer score of 4; ASSET score of 50; or Compass score of 90.

Reading: Accuplacer/Companion score of 90; ASSET score of 47; or Compass score of 90; or Reading Exempt

Mathematics: Accuplacer/Companion score of 50; Compass score of 41; or ASSET score of 41
