Program Description: The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in CAD/CAM/CNC program prepares the student to operate CNC systems that produce the machined product on CNC machining centers in an industrial environment, and prepares the student for the National Institute of Metal Working Skills (NIMS) Level One, Two & Three CNC credentials. A typical graduate seeks employment as; CNC Mill Programmer, CNC Mill Operator and CNC Mill Processing Technicians for 3,4 & 5 Axis Milling Machines.

Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling Machine Programming uses 3D Computer Aided Design software systems (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM)software systems, Tool Path Verification software and the Operation and Control of advanced CNC milling equipment to create parts.

Other Requirements

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all core courses.
Students must earn:
A cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
At least on-third of the certificate credits from CAC.

Program Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Synthesis Level) Write a CNC program to control CNC machine functions, multi-axis coordinate path and miscellaneous CNC machine functions.
2.(Synthesis) Use the multi-axis CNC machine to verify the CNC program.
3.(Application Level) Employ tool path verification with back plot software and the CNC machine control verify mode.
4.(Application Level) Verify the sequence of operations prior to machining the parts to ensure quality.
5.(Application Level) Determine necessary tooling to produce precision parts.
6.(Synthesis Level) Set tool length offset, and diameter offset variables to produce a CNC machined part from a dimensional annotated document.
