Description: Basic backstage techniques in building, painting, and rigging of scenery. Operation of stage lighting, sound, and curtain equipment. Prerequisite: RDG094. May be taken two times for credit.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Explain current safety laws and general safety practices as they apply to theaters during class and while in the theater area.
2. (Comprehension Level) Describe the process to trim stage curtains and scenery for a performance.
3. (Comprehension Level) Discuss the process to construct multi-dimensional stage scenery or properties for a college production.
4. (Comprehension Level) Identify and explain the methods to properly mix and apply paint to two and three dimensional stage scenery.
5. (Comprehension Level) Identify and explain the methods to hang and focus stage lighting instruments as depicted on a lighting plot for a performance.
6. (Application Level) Apply stagecraft skills to set up microphones and an intercom system for a performance.
7. (Synthesis Level) Operate stage sound, lighting, scenery, and curtain equipment.
