Description: Opportunities to apply Community Health Worker knowledge and to practice skills in a variety of healthcare settings.

Prerequisites: CBA 110C or CIS110, CPH 160, CPH 178, CPH 180, CPH 185, CPH 190 and department approval. Before beginning internship, students (at their own expense) must pass a background check, drug screen and TB skin test. Proof of immunizations will be also be required.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Identify and explain patient/client barriers to reducing health disparities in underserved communities.
2. (Analysis Level) Identify and refer situations outside the community health worker scope of practice or area of competence to appropriate healthcare professional.
