Description: An introduction to philosophies of coaching youth, high school, and collegiate athletics, emphasizing both competitive and recreational settings.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Analysis Level) Describe the similarities and differences of coaching athletics at the youth, high school and collegiate level.
2. (Comprehensive Level) Describe the differences between competitive and recreational coaching.
3. (Comprehensive Level) Discuss the role of a coach with respect to academic progress.
4. (Evaluation Level) Compare and contrast the role of a head coach and an assistant coach.
5. (Analysis Level) Describe the differences between coaching at the amateur level and professional level.
6. (Evaluation Level) Critique and discuss the techniques of communication required for effective coaching.
