Description: Finish grading and trimming techniques of road slopes, pads, ditches, and other soil structures using various types of heavy equipment, including final grade checking.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

Corequisites: None

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Explain the requirements for finishing and final grading of earthwork.
2. (Application Level) Use heavy equipment to perform fine grading and finishing work.
3. (Application Level) Describe and demonstrate techniques for finish grading of sub-grades, base, slopes, parking areas, and drainage structures.

Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Per National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Standards:
1. Successfully complete Finishing and Grading Module Examination #22306 with a score of at least 70%.
2. Performance Profile Tasks. Students will:
a) Use motor grader to perform finish grading of a 100' section of flat bottom ditch, finish the back slope, and front slope according to slope stakes.
b) Use bulldozer to finish 100' section of a 3-to-1 embankment slope according to slope stakes.
