Description: Advanced safety techniques and requirements for operating or supervising the operation of heavy equipment, emphasizing organizing and conducting safety meetings, OSHA hazardous material requirements, safety reporting, inspections, and investigations.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Describe the procedures for forming safety committees and conducting safety meetings.
2. (Comprehension Level) Describe the basic steps for carrying out accident investigations.
3. (Comprehension Level) Explain the basic safety requirements for first aid and accident reporting.
4. (Comprehension Level) Explain the requirements for hazardous communication (HAZCOM).
5. (Application Level) Describe and demonstrate safe working procedures for the operation and over-the-road driving of dump trucks.
6. (Application Level) Describe and demonstrate safe working procedures for loading and transporting heavy equipment.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Per National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Standards:
1. Successfully complete Advanced Safety Module Examination #22302 with a score of at least 70%.
2. Complete tasks safely by adhering to OSHA standards.
Performance Profile Tasks. Students will:
a. Accurately complete an accident report form.
b. Perform proper backing and dumping with a loaded dump truck.
c. Perform safe over-the-road driving with a loaded dump truck.
