Description: Hands-on operator training on backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, and front end loaders utilizing skills learned in previous classes.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
BACKHOES: 1. (Application Level) Perform basic earth moving and excavation with the backhoe. EXCAVATORS: 2. (Application Level) Perform earth moving and excavation operations with an excavator. BULLDOZERS: 3. (Application Level) Perform basic maneuvers with a bulldozer. FRONT-END LOADERS I: 4. (Application Level) Perform excavation and hoisting operations with a front-end loader I.

Per National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Standards: 1. Successfully complete Operator Competency Profile Evaluation of identified tasks at a minimum of a level III on all assigned machines. 2. Complete all required time cards and listing of work performed. 3. File on-the-job hours reports. BACKHOES: 4. Performance profile tasks. Students will: a) Demonstrate proper pre-start inspections of backhoe. b) Perform proper start-up and shut-down of a backhoe. c) Perform the basic backhoe maneuvers of moving forward, turning, moving in reverse, and operating the front loader bucket. d) Perform operation of setting up backhoe, using stabilizers, and digging with backhoe bucket. EXCAVATORS: 5. Performance profile tasks. Students will: a) Demonstrate proper procedures for pre-start inspection. b) Demonstrate maneuvers with excavator to include moving forward, moving backwards, making a pivot turn, and making a spot turn. c) Excavate a straight trench 40' long and 8' deep with clean vertical walls the width of a bucket. BULLDOZERS: 6. Performance profile tasks. Students will: a) Demonstrate proper pre-start inspection of bulldozer. b) Perform basic maneuvers with the bulldozer to include moving forward, moving backward, turning with blade up, and straight dozing. FRONT-END LOADERS I: 7. Performance profile tasks. Students will: a) Demonstrate proper pre-start inspection of front-end loader. b) Perform proper start-up and shut-down of front-end loader. c) Perform the basic front-end loader maneuvers of moving forward, turning, moving in reverse, and operating the bucket.
