Description: Overview of the use and maintenance of backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, and front end loaders including demonstrations of safe operation and earth moving techniques.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
The following Learning Outcomes will be applied separately to: Backhoes, Excavators, Bulldozers, and Front-End Loaders I:
1. (Knowledge Level) List uses of the specific piece of equipment.
2. (Comprehension Level) Match terms associated with equipment operation to the correct definitions.
3. (Knowledge Level) Identify controls on an equipment diagram.
4. (Knowledge Level) List types of equipment manufactured.
5. (Knowledge Level) State safety rules for operating the machine.
6. (Knowledge Level) Identify the basic components of the machine.
7. (Knowledge Level) List accessories used on specific pieces of equipment.
8. (Synthesis Level) Develop suggestions for effective operation of the machine, based on variable conditions.
9. (Comprehension Level) Explain basic preventive maintenance requirements for the piece of equipment.
10. (Synthesis Level) Model and explain the basic maneuvers performed with the machine.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Per National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Standards:
1. Successfully complete Backhoes Module Examination #22205 with a score of at least 70%.
2. Successfully complete Excavators Module Examination #22305 with a score of at least 70%.
3. Successfully complete Bulldozers Module Examination #22204 with a score of at least 70%.
4. Successfully complete Front-End Loaders Module Examination #22206 with a score of at least 70%.
