Description: Major English literary works from the Romantic period to the Modern period.

Prerequisites: ENG101

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Analysis Level) Identify and analyze social, political, philosophical, economic, historical and religious influences on the literature of the period.
2. (Analysis Level) Identify and analyze characteristics of major literary movements: Romantic, Victorian, Modern and Contemporary.
3. (Analysis Level) Identify and analyze characteristics of major literary genres written during the period.
4. (Analysis Level) Analyze the works of individual authors and identify characteristics of these works with regard to content and form.
5. (Synthesis Level) Examine and explain the evolution of British Literature over one or more time periods.
6. (Analysis Level) Compare themes or features of literary works to other English art-forms.
7. (Evaluation Level) Evaluate a literary work's relevance to one's contemporary life.
8. (Synthesis Level) Compose thesis driven written discourse that demonstrates the effective gathering, interpretation, and evaluation of textual evidence and research.
