Description: Introduction to the construction industry with an emphasis on safety, equipment operations, maintenance and career opportunities.

Prerequisites: Students must be 16 yrs. of age by July 1


Recommendations: Advisory Board is very supportive of the program. Discussions are ongoing about the success of Camp I and possibly extending to an Advanced Camp II.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. Review and discuss a variety of career options in the Heavy Equipment industry.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate safety measures that must be adhered to in the industry work areas.
3. Demonstrate the ability to perform basic maintenance on heavy equipment.
4. Demonstrate the ability to perform basic equipment operating skills on a variety of heavy equipment.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Competitive capstone will include written exam, hands-on portion demonstrating the ability to safely operate equipment in timed events. Student success will be judged based on the lowest time and least number of errors with a minimum of 70%accuracy.
