Description: Introduction to health care, medical terminology and the human body, personal and workplace safety, behaviors for success, communication and health care skills, and securing and maintaining employment.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Summarize health care today including current health care systems and trends and ethical and legal responsibilities.
2. (Comprehension Level) Describe the medical language of health care and the importance of medical math and healthcare.
3. (Comprehension Level) Explain the overall structure of the human body including function, growth, organization and development.
4. (Comprehension Level) Describe personal and safety in the workplace including body mechanics, infection control and environmental safety.
5. (Comprehension Level) Summarize behaviors for success including lifestyle management, professionalism and lifelong learning.
6. (Application Level) Discuss communication in the health care setting when treating patients as individuals using accurate oral and written communications, computers in healthcare and documentation of medical records.
