Description: Identify security risks, plan and design wireless security solutions based on security models (transitional, enterprise, personal) and security policies - acceptable use policy, password management policy, public access network use policy, and virtual private network (VPN) policy. Discuss authentication, encryption, passive discovery, active attacks, monitoring, and maintenance. Supports preparation for Certification Wireless Service Providers (CWSP) certification.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge Level) List advantages and disadvantages of a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and IEEE WLANs.
2. (Comprehension Level) Describe the vulnerabilities of a WLAN as related to authentication, encryption, passive discovery and active attacks; state plausible potential damage to network resources and information.
3. (Application Level) Prepare security policies for specific networks, including acceptable use policy, password management policy, public access network use policy and Virtual Private Network (VPN) policy.
4. (Application Level) Implement the appropriate security model, such as transitional, enterprise or personal, with the related technologies to provide a secure network.
5. (Evaluation Level) Compare and Contrast the different types of authentication servers and the various extended authentication protocols with the best use of each for a specific application.
6. (Synthesis Level) Plan a WLAN management system that includes maintenance, monitoring, policies, updating and prevention and detection of intruders.
