Description: Career options in the massage field include private practice, working in medical settings, and resort and spa work. Preparation for joining the workforce in all capacities are covered including professional ethics, resume writing and basics of accounting, insurance billing and preparing for State licensing.

Recommendations: Course is designed especially for those entering or already in the massage therapy field.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Analysis Level) Analyze and assess the skills necessary for professional opportunities and practices available in a massage therapy career.
2. (Analysis Level) Compare various state and local ordinances and professional massage association standards.
3. (Analysis Level) Identify and describe the ethical guidelines and responsibilities applicable to massage therapists in the context of owning and running a business.
4. (Synthesis Level) Develop various activities, such as advertising and decisions about leasing or buying a practice, that are necessary to start a new business.
5. (Application Level) Demonstrate basic bookkeeping skills.
6. (Application Level) Determine various areas of study useful in preparation for the National Certification Exam or the MBLEx.
