Description: This course is designed to give the student in-depth skills and knowledge of the correct firestop methods and materials in the workplace. The course also covers the importance of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and the correct handling of hazardous materials.

Prerequisites: Program Director consent

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Identify and explain firestop systems.
2. (Comprehension Level) Explain products, standards and testing for firestops.
3. (Application Level) Demonstrate proper installation of firestop materials.
4. (Analysis Level) Identify potentially hazardous contruction materials, and explain their proper handling.
5. (Application Level) Demonstrate proper use of MSDS sheets.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Student will adhere to the current apprenticeship standards as developed by the Arizona State Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.

Students must demonstrate competency at 80% or higher and withing 1/8 inch accuracy.
