Description: Preventive maintenance practices focusing on basic equipment subsystems and major mechanical systems; scheduling and completion of routine inspections of equipment. Use of technical service literature, an array of special preventive maintenance service tools and safety are emphasized.

Prerequisites: Must be sponsored by an AGC Contractor


Recommendations: The AGC Mechanic Apprentice Program was developed to provide a plan of approved training that will equip apprentices for profitable employment as skilled mechanics in the construction industry. Each apprentice is sponsored by a participating AGC member firm.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. Identify various safety precautions that should be considered while performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.
2. Explain why preventive maintenance is important to the longevity of heavy equipment.
3. Discuss and explain the basic machine subsystems and maintenance required.
4. Explain and apply industry safety standards.
5. Develop a schedule for routine maintenance.
