Description: Utilizing skills with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, fasteners (metric and English) and the application of shop math. Mechanical terminology and interpretation of technical literature to industry standards.

Prerequisites: Must be sponsored by an AGC Contractor


Recommendations: The AGC Mechanic Apprentice Program was developed to provide a plan of approved training that will equip apprentices for profitable employment as skilled mechanics in the construction industry. Each apprentice is sponsored by a participating AGC member firm.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1.Utilize math concepts in repair simulations.
2.Demonstrate skills in selection of tools and how they relate to mechanical technology
3.Demonstrate skills required to properly use precision measuring tools.
4.Demonstrate proper and safe use for common hand tools.
5.Properly remove and/or install fasteners.

Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Perform the manipulative skills required to satisfactorily complete the lab assignments to meet the manufacture’s written specifications.
2. Receive a rating greater than two on the course performance standard check sheet. (Approved by the AGC Mechanics Training Committee}
