Description: The concepts of disease and the etiology of selected pathologic conditions are examined with an emphasis on the radiographic appearance of various diseases and the influence of pathologic changes on considerations of technique.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge Level) List and define basic terms related to pathology.
2. (Comprehension Level) Differentiate between the classifications of pathology, including definitions, examples, sites, complications and prognosis.
3. (Evaluation Level) Summarize and give examples of the causes of disease.
4. (Comprehension Level) Explain the disease process as it relates to radiopathology.
5. (Comprehension Level) Identify radiologic pathology.
6. (Analysis Level) Outline the pathological considerations of etiology, sites complications, prognosis, radiographic appearance, procedural and technique modifications and appropriate imaging modality.

Students will achieve a level of competency as outlined by the compendium of learning objectives for Radiographic Pathology (p. 95) of the Radiography Curriculum (2012) established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and recognized as a standard for accreditation by Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and meet the Professional Requirements specified in Section 2.02 of the ARRT Rules and Regulations and identified in the Competency Requirements for Primary Certification of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
