Description: Structured, sequential competency-based assignments under supervision; students will acquire proficiency in clinical practice and the performance of radiographic exams.

Prerequisites: Radiologic Technology Cohort student.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge Level) Describe the concepts of clinical practice including the code of ethics/professional behavior, professional communication and roles of the radiographer.
2. (Application Level) Employ intermediate skills in the prioritizing of procedures required in daily clinical practice, including scheduling, order evaluation, room setup and patient assessment.
3. (Application Level) Provide patient-centered clinically effective care for all patients regardless of age, gender, disability, special needs, ethnicity or culture.
4. (Application Level) Apply the principles of radiation protection standards.
5. (Application Level) Demonstrate the principles of transferring, positioning and immobilizing patients at an intermediate skill level.
6. (Analysis Level) Critique images for appropriate anatomy, image quality and patient identification.
7. (Application Level) Demonstrate intermediate competency in the performance of radiographic exams as designated and in compliance with Competency Requirements for Primary Certification of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Students will achieve a level of competency as outlined by the compendium of learning objectives of Clinical Practice (p. 75-76) of the Radiography Curriculum (2012)
established by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) and recognized as a standard for accreditation by Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and meet the Professional Requirements specified in Section 2.02 of the ARRT Rules and Regulations and identified in the Competency Requirements for Primary Certification of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
