Description: Students work in GIS internships to help students select GIS specialty track, refine GIS skills and gain teamwork skills. Prerequisites: GIS101, GIS102, and GIS111 completed with a grade of "C" or better.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Application Level) Select a place of internship or equivalent project though departmental procedure/process and complete an interview process.
2. (Synthesis Level) In collaboration with instructor and supervisor, create a contract of specific internship responsibilities and project(s) which will earn approval from the instructor and supervisor.
3. (Application Level) Apply classroom instruction in the Geographic Information Systems degree program to a practical work experience situation.
4. (Synthesis Level) In collaboration with the organization, develop methods to address the needs of that organization including the work project which addresses their GIS needs.
5. (Application Level) Apply human relation skills in an industry setting, including punctuality, communication, presentation, and professionalism with industry personnel and faculty coordinator through journal and face to face consultations.
6. (Synthesis Level) Assess internship experience in relationship to previous course work, completed contract and future employment opportunities.
7. (Analysis Level) In written discourse, submit a reflection paper highlighting the internship experience, suggesting future improvements and how previous coursework prepared students for internship. Journal the activities participated in during the GIS internship and identify improvement strategies.
