Description: The EMT Refresher course incorporates the standards as adopted by the State of Arizona, DHS-BEMS Division and the US Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1994 and 1996 revisions. Prepares students for State recertification and NREMT reregistration. May be taken two times for credit. Prerequisites: Current Basic EMT and CPR certifications.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Analysis Level) Utilize physician medical direction to select appropriate care.
2. (Evaluation Level) Assess scene safety and the need for additional resources.
3. (Evaluation Level) Assess mechanism of injury and/or nature of illness.
4. (Synthesis Level) Collect a history, compile and provide initial patient assessment
and care based on findings.
5. (Synthesis Level) Perform a rapid trauma assessment and plan care based
on the assessment.
