1. (Knowledge Level) Describe the scope of the duties of the intermediate and advanced emergency medical technician and paramedic.
2. (Analysis Level) Identify signs and symptoms of patients with a communicable disease and list the appropriate body substance isolation procedures. 3. (Analysis Level) Identify the initial, focused, and continuing processes of assessment, medical history, vital signs, communications, and documentation. 4. (Analysis Level) Apply the procedures of identifying and treating hypoperfusion states including intravenous (IV), intraosseous (IO), and central line fluid therapy. 5. (Analysis Level) Describe the actions, indications, contraindications, precautions, side effects, and dosages of the drugs included in the current Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Services approved prehospital drug box. 6. (Evaluation Level) Given a patient scenario while preserving personal safety and well being, select field interventions for the following scenarios: a. Body system b. Obstetrical emergencies c. Neonatal and pediatric emergencies d. Behavioral emergencies. |
Internal/External Standards Accreditation |
1. National Registry of EMTS (NREMT) standards for Paramedic or Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician level on Practical examination.
2. State of Arizona Department of Health Services, BEMS standards for Advanced Level guidelines. 3. American Heart Association (AHA), National Red Cross, ASHI or other Advanced Cardiac Life Support standards. 4. AHA, NRC, ASHI or other Basic Life Support Standards. 5. NREMT-Advanced Level Written Exam standards. 6. Demonstrate 80 percent proficiency on a written examination and 80 percent accuracy of practical skills in selected EMS scenarios. |
