Description: In-depth examination of coaching emphasizing methods and concepts in both competitive and recreational settings.

Prerequisites: PED 115

Recommendations: Community youth sport leaders and on campus student interest

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Application level) Apply organizational skills as a coach of a sport team.
2. (Synthesis/Evaluation level) Design and evaluate activities centered on promoting diversity with a team.
3. (Synthesis/Application/Evaluation level) Design, implement and assess practice plans.
4. (Analysis level) Compare and contrast the different methods utilized in coaching competitive and recreational sports.
5. (Application level) Demonstrate standard rules in a sport of choice.
6. (Application level) Illustrate sport specific skills.
7. (Evaluation level) Evaluate students performances of sport specific skills.
8. (Comprehension/Application level) Discuss level appropriate disciplinary techniques and apply them in a coaching setting.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Using a variety of creative devices, articulate the methods and strategies of coaching youth, high school and/or collegiate sports.
