Description: Fundamentals of baseball officiating techniques and mechanics. Techniques and mechanics are based on National Federation High School Rules.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge level) Describe the rules of baseball as defined by the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).
2. (Application level) Demonstrate the mechanics of officiating applicable to the rules of baseball.
3. (Comprehension level) Describe the role of the official in competitive baseball.
4. (Knowledge level) Identify the responsibilities of a baseball official in working as a member of an officiating team.
5. (Comprehension level) Discuss appropriate pre-game, in-game and post-game interactions with coaches and players.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Perform satisfactory (80%) or better on all written assignments related to the rules of baseball as defined by the NFHS.
2. Perform satisfactory (80%) or better on all written assignments related to the appropriate physical mechanics of a baseball official.
3. Demonstrate the ability to apply the rules and mechanics in a mock, scrimmage or live baseball game with a minimum 70% accuracy.
