Description: Introduction to heavy equipment operation, emphasizing safe operation, pre start and shut down procedures, and basic earth moving tasks.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge level) Identify each machine and list attachments.
2. (Application level) Perform pre-operation inspection.
3. (Application level) Perform pre-start, post-start, and shut-down of all machines used.
4. (Application level) Perform basic maneuvers with the machines.
5. (Knowledge level) Identify all machine controls correctly.

1. Successfully complete Operator Competency Profile Evaluation of identified tasks at a minimum of a Level II on all assigned machines.

4. Demonstrate knowledge of the assigned basic earth moving functions, per verbal presentation.
5. Meet Operator Competency Profile Evaluation criteria for machine operator, per course rubric.
