Description: Introduction to preparing graded surfaces using heavy equipment, including identification and interpretation of construction stake marks.

Prerequisites: Student must be sponsored by an AGC contractor to enroll.

1. (Knowledge level) Match terms associated with grade work to the correct definitions.
2. (Knowledge level) Match types of stakes to their correct usage and understand markings on stakes.
3. (Knowledge level) Identify equipment used by the operator to check stakes.
4. (Knowledge level) State the meaning of slope ratio.
5. (Knowledge level) Label parts of a road bed.
6. (Comprehension level) Distinguish between backslope and foreslope.
7. (Comprehension level) Identify horizontal and vertical distance of cut and fill slope stakes.
8. (Comprehension level) Identify finished sub-grade on cross slope.

1. Successfully complete Grades I Module Examination #22108 with a score of at least 70%.
2. Complete tasks safely by adhering to OSHA standards.
3. Performance profile tasks. Students will:
a) Identify types of stakes and markings on stakes, per examples given.
b) Measure horizontal and vertical distance of cut and fill slope stakes, per examples given.
c) Measure the finish sub-grade on cross slope, per examples given.
