Description: An introduction to methods of producing fine art prints. May be taken four times for credit. Recommended: ART101 and ART107.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge Level) Read and apply appropriate safety rules for printmaking processes.
2. (Comprehension Level) Describe and compare, in discussion or written format, printing processes used during the semester.
3. (Application Level) Apply principles of design and rules of composition to original prints.
4. (Synthesis Level) Develop an image using a series of artists proofs.
5. (Application Level) Produce a portfolio of original prints including an edition of original, properly registered prints.
6. (Evaluation Level) Critique prints in a classroom discussion according to a given rubric.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Read printing safety rules and safely work with printmaking tools, materials, chemicals and presses.
2. In written or verbal format describe and compare the printing processes used in class.
3. Present and evaluate the design of two or more original sketches before beginning a matrix.
4. Print and number one or more proofs taken from a matrix in process.
5. Submit a portfolio of original printed images including an edition of at least five identical, clean and correctly registered prints.
6. Submit all prints using standard printmaking documentation including the title, date, enumeration and signature.
7. Critique prints according to a given rubric in a class discussion.
