Description: An introduction to the structure, tools, and terminology of the Internet relating to web browsers, email, search engines, communications, security, and e-commerce.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Knowledge Level) Describe web navigation, addressing, URLs, cookies, bookmarks, and other main features and terminology common to web browsers.
2. (Application Level) Demonstrate sending and receiving email messages; uploading and downloading attachments; and creating and organizing contacts.
3. (Analysis Level) Appraise search engines and the information retrieved.
4. (Comprehension Level) Discuss various types of internet communication, related privacy and security issues, and netiquette.
5. (Comprehension Level) Review internet security threats and countermeasures.
6. (Comprehension Level) Identify consumer concerns related to buying and selling online.

1. Correctly describe the main features and terminology associated with web browsing software.
2. Properly send and receive email messages containing attachments; use address book to address messages to individuals and groups.
3. Given specific information requests determine and use the best search engine, directory, or metasearch engine to gather the information; filter search results for credibility, validity, and quality.
4. Accurately describe all types of web communication, discuss all related privacy and security issues, and list generally accepted netiquette rules.
5. Provide a detailed report on how to protect against hackers, identity theft, online predators, and other online crimes.
6. Present useful information on how to buy and/or sell for a specific website also address transaction security and privacy, assurance, legal issues, and international commerce.
