Description: Introduction to the concept of preparing graded surfaces using heavy equipment. Identification of construction stakes and interpretation of marks on each type of stake.

Prerequisites: Must be sponsored by AGC Contractor

At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
1. (Knowledge Level) Define terms associated with grade work.
2. (Comprehension Level) Classify terms associated with markings on grade stakes and bench mark stakes.
3. (Comprehension Level) Identify equipment used by the operator to check stakes.
4. (Knowledge Level) State the meaning of slope ratio.
5. (Knowledge Level) Label parts of a road bed.
6. (Comprehension Level) Distinguish between backslope and foreslope.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Successfully complete Grades I Module Examination #22108 with a score of at least 70% at the conclusion of class.
2. Complete Performance Tasks for NCCER Module 22106-05.
3. Safely perform all tasks per applicable OSHA Standards.
