Description: Introduction to blueprint reading, site plans and obtaining cut and fill information. Includes legal and safety issues for equipment operators.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Comprehension Level) Describe the types of drawings usually included in a set of plans, and list the information found on each.
2. (Comprehension Level) Identify the different types of lines and markings used on drawings.
3. (Knowledge Level) Define common abbreviations and symbols used on blueprints.
4. (Comprehension Level) Interpret drawings to determine the type of excavations needed to prepare the site.
5. (Comprehension Level) Describe the operator's duties to ensure that the job is completed safely and according to plans.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1.Complete the unit test for the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER)at the end of class(Module 22209-06)with a score of 70% minimum.
2. Complete the Performance Tasks for NCCER Module 22209-06.
3. Safely perform all tasks according to applicable OSHA standards.
