Description: Development and implementation of individualized weight training programs based on the student’s activities and/or interests. May be taken two times for credit.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. (Application Level) Demonstrate proper positioning and execution of the basic lifts performed on weight machines and free weight equipment.
2. (Application Level) Demonstrate positioning and execution of advanced lifts for the major muscle groups.
3. (Application Level) Demonstrate safety procedures appropriate when participating in a weight training program to include: warm-up/cool down, stretching, spotting and breathing techniques.
4. (Analysis Level) Diagram the location and describe the action of the major muscle groups affected by weight training activities.
5. (Synthesis Level) Generalize the physiological effects of weight training.
6. (Analysis Level) Explain the importance of proper nutrition and its affect on weight training.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
1. Perform proper warm-up, stretching and cool-down before and after each work-out.
2. Perform proper safety techniques during each work-out.
3. Document increased strength and/or endurance for each major muscle group.
4. Provide a weekly journal of weight training program.
