Description: A slow and relaxed form of stretching where breathing (pranayama) and positions (asanas) are performed. May be taken two times for credit.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes
1. Discuss and demonstrate breathing procedures and precautions, rib cage breathing, and various pranayama techniques including alternate breathing and abdominal lift.
2. Discuss and demonstrate proper warm-up and cool down procedures including the twelve-step Sun salutation warm-up.
4. Discuss and demonstrate positions (asanas) that affect core strength and flexibility including the abdomen, pelvis, spine, neck, shoulder girdle, chest and back.
5. Demonstrate and discuss positions (asanas) that affect strength and flexibility of the lower extremity.
6. Demonstrate positions (asanas) that affect forward, backward and supine backward flexibility of the spine, spinal twists, sitting forward bends, and standing and arm balances.
7. Demonstrate and discuss Lotus-related postures and relaxation techniques.
Internal/External Standards Accreditation
Demonstrate proper alignment and understanding of asanas (positions) with cueing to correct postures 90% of the time.
