Description: The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Construction Trades: Heat and Frost Insulation degree is designed to provide apprentices and journeyman with a broadened educational background and leadership skills so that students completing the associate degree program may be better equipped to enter supervisory managerial positions.

1. Apply knowledge of business-personal computers to the business setting. (BPC/CIS+++++)
2.Describe occupational safety and health administration (OSHA) safety precautions, regulations, first aid, and personal protection specific to the Insulation trade. (HFA101, HFA204)
3. Describe proper and safe use, maintenance and repair of tools, equipment, materials and accessories specific to the Insulation trade. (HFA101, HFA204)
4. Perform trade calculations including operations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions. (HFA110)
5. Perform trade calculations using metrics, algebraic operations, and geometric measurements applicable to the Insulation trade. (HFA110, HFA204)
6. Examine principals of insulation, materials, methods, application, seal and finish. (HFA115, HFA204)
7. Draw, bisect, trisect, divide and construct geometric linear and curvilinear geometric constructions. (HFA150)
8. Layout and design templates and patterns for tees, valves, flanges, end caps, radius elbows, cones, bevels, and tank heads. (HFA150, HFA250)
9. Identify insulation for piping for cryogenic service, underground piping, and ductwork in air handling systems. (HFA215)
10. Insulate vertical and horizontal cylinders, finished heads and bodies. (HFA215)
11. Read architectural, isometric, structural, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and ductwork drawings related to insulation projects. (HFA260)
12. Examine firestopping systems, materials and installation techniques. (HFA260)
13. Review supervision, management, communication, and leadership techniques required for the effective foreman. (HFA270)
14. Demonstrate proper use of cribbing tools, drills, shearing machines and their specific use. (HFA204)
15. Bend, crimp and shape metal suing proper shaping tool/equipment. (HFA204)
