Description: Set-up and use of inspection tools, equipment, per industry standards including the use of surface plates, right angle blocks, cylindrical squares, V-Blocks, and related equipment. Selection, completion and interpretation of information from inspection forms. Inspection alternatives, tool control activities, and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.

Prerequisites: (Math assessment score on District placement exam into MAT090 or MAT091 or MAT092 or higher) or permission of Department or Division. Prerequisites or Corequisites: MET109." />

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Use inspection hand tools including micrometers, gages and fixed gages. (I, II, III, IV, VI)
2. Perform inspection setups properly including tools, devices, and equipment. (I-IV, VI, VII)
3. Choose alternative inspection methods and understand the limitations or advantages. (I-VIII)
4. Use inspection equipment including surface plate, rotary table, cylindrical squares and other specified devices. (II)
5. Use and complete inspection planning forms, reports and tables. (V)
6. Compare and contrast specific inspection techniques to geometric tolerance requirements. (V)
7. Describe the use and operation of coordinate measurement machines. (VII)
8. Describe other non-destructive inspection methods. (VIII)
9. Use Machinery`s Handbook as reference to support manufacturing requirements for part inspection. (IX)
