Description: Study of grammar and vocabulary along with the study of Chinese culture. Emphasis on pronunciation and speaking skills.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate comprehension of authentic oral and written materials in compound sentences that include detailed information, explanations, descriptions, commands, suggestions, directions, and agreements/disagreements. (I, II) 2. Demonstrate oral and auditory competence by asking and answering questions in different question forms and narrating activities that contain detailed information, results, explanations, descriptions, suggestions, directions, agreements, and disagreements. (I, II) 3. Demonstrate reading and writing competence by delivering short paragraphs with compound sentences that include detailed descriptions, commands, explanations, suggestions, directions, and results. (I, II) 4. Demonstrate cultural competence by identifying some basic Chinese cultural aspects in the target language. (III)
