Description: Beginning conversational Navajo with emphasis on basic listening and speaking skills, including basic pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence structure, and cultural awareness



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Demonstrate comprehension of basic spoken Navajo. (I)
2. Demonstrate correct pronunciation and intonation of Navajo. (II)
3. Use Navajo vocabulary to describe self and others. (I, II)
4. Ask for and give basic information about various topics. (I, II)
5. Relate and demonstrate comprehension of Navajo stories. (I- III)
6. Describe Navajo traditions and cultural activities. (III)
7. Speak, read, and write Navajo in basic sentences. (I-IV)
8. Tell Navajo stories. (I-V)
9. Read stories written in Navajo. (I-V)
10. Write original stories in Navajo. (I-V)
