Description: Methods and techniques for encouraging beginning scientific thinking among young children. Focus upon the theory of Jean Piaget



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe current attitudes toward science and its place in modern American life. (I)
2. Identify individual differences and family values that may influence beginning scientific thinking in young children. (I)
3. Indicate the importance of scientific thinking to the future of the modern American child. (I)
4. Describe how scientific thinking begins in young children according to the theory of Jean Piaget. (II)
5. Identify and describe a variety of areas for curriculum development to encourage scientific thinking in young children.(III)
6. Use Piaget`s theory to prepare, supervise and evaluate an activity designed to encourage scientific thinking in young children.(III)
