Description: Overview of local area networks. Emphasis on the elements of a local area network, current issues and products, and use of a local area network. Includes terminology, hardware and software components, connectivity, resource monitoring and sharing, electronic mail and messaging, and security issues

4. Describe the function of a LAN file server and its associated resources. (I)

6. Perform application selection from LAN file server. (II)
7. Perform resource selection and monitoring. (III)
8. Describe various LAN topologies and communications standards. (IV)
9. Describe electronic mail and messaging functions. (IV)
10. Describe LAN access and data security issues. (V)
11. Identify and perform LAN backup procedures. (V)
