Description: Introduction to three-dimensional animation tools and principles, with an emphasis on character construction and animation. 3D Studio Max will be the primary application for use in this class.

MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Explain the dynamics of the interface and navigation within the 3D Studio Max environment. (I, III)
2. Create a project plan and develop a character. (II)
3. Explain basic key framing and animation concepts. (III)
4. Create animated objects using basic animation techniques and tools. (IV)
5. Build the skeletal rig for a character, using existing models. (V)
6. Create unique and expressive animation for the character, using a variety of techniques. (VI)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work. Please see individual course syllabi for additional information, including specific course requirements.
