Description: Cultural practices of vegetables, fruits and ornamental plants as they relate to organic and inorganic gardening



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Develop a plan for a garden in the Southwest. (I)
2. Prepare and plant a garden. (II)
3. Identify and describe various types of soil. (III)
4. Develop a water schedule for a garden. (IV)
5. Use organic gardening practices in growing a garden. (V)
6. Identify and apply fertilizers in a garden. (VI)
7. Grow a garden using hydroponic methods. (VII)
8. Identify and control garden pests, such as insects, weeds, and diseases. (VIII)
9. Describe climatic influences that affect a garden. (IX)
10. Identify and recommend cultural practices for specific garden vegetables. (X)
