Catalog Course Description: Provides an interactive tour of the QuickBooks software and demonstrates its features. Course takes students step-by-step through the QuickBooks program learning hands-on how to do the following: record business activities as journal entries, adjust entries, create financial statements, prepare budgets, income statements, balance sheets, business reports and payroll, and use the software to set-up a new business and help make business decisions.

Course Competencies: Competency 1 Demonstrate the various features of QuickBooks.
Objective 1.1 Explain the different editions of QuickBooks and the types of companies that use them.
Objective 1.2 Explore various types of QuickBooks files, including the reasons and uses of each type.
Objective 1.3 Perform the standard file operations including: "Restore" "open" "back up" and "close".
Objective 1.4 Determine file storage and back-up location, and options for data protection.
Objective 1.5 Navigate QuickBooks through the use of the Home Page and the Icon Bar.

Competency 2 Create a new company file for both a new and an existing company.
Objective 2.1 Create a new company with modified preference settings.
Objective 2.2 Modify chart of accounts, including accounts with opening balances.
Objective 2.3 Set up administrator and user accounts with restricted and password access.
