Statewide Update: | Arizona State University Course Degree Title Changes:
BS Earth and Space Exploration (Geological Sciences) BA Earth and Environmental Studies Both of these degrees are administered by SESE. BAE Secondary Education (Earth and Space Sciences) ?this degree is administered by the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU, but SESE offers most of the courses in the ESS Content Specialization portion of the degree (48 out of 120 credit hours). MLF Teachers College now offers a Certificate in Secondary Education that any STEM major can take concurrently with the BS degree program (an additional 30 credit hours), and thus be prepared for AZ teacher certification upon graduation. University of Arizona will no longer offer a B.S in Science Education as they are following a national trend where K-12 science instructors are expected to have a more rigorous science background than what was offered by this degree. Northern Arizona University is currently considering adding two electives to their Geology Program: Geophysics and Geochemistry |
