Catalog Introduction: | The Surgical Technology, CST Pathway to AAS program provides students with the opportunity to further their knowledge and education culminating in an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
The Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) is in line with the current recommendation of the professional body, the Association of Surgical Technologists, which recommends an AAS degree to work in the field of Surgical Technology. The degree adds to the competitiveness of a Surgical Technologist seeking employment. Many hospitals have a career ladder, which can require an associate's degree for advancement. An advanced degree furthers the student's education and rightly positions him/her for additional education. This course of study incorporates knowledge and principles from the liberal arts with an emphasis on the sciences in theory. The Mohave Community College Surgical Technology Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in cooperation with the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for Surgical Technology, 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, Florida 33756. CST Pathway to AAS is a national program with most courses offered online. This program is designed specifically for the practicing Certified Surgical Technologist. Requirements include 60 credit hours for graduation with 33 credits hours transferring for the active Certified Surgical Technologist. For more information concerning the Surgical Technology, CST Pathway to AAS, see the Surgical Technology webpage. Requirements for Graduation: No D or F grades in any program required courses and completion of all field of study courses with a "B" or better. Note: For a course to be eligible for transfer, the student must receive a "C" or better. Acceptance of a transfer course is determined by the receiving institution. |
