Statewide Update: - We reviewed the data which showed:
o Over the last 5 years there has been an 11% increase in student transfers from community college's (CC's) to the big 3 Arizona universities.
o In that same time frame there has been a 24% increase in business student transfers from CC's in Arizona to the big 3 Arizona universities.

- AZTransfer has further detailed their reporting data to us to include degree specific data which was shown to the group.
o A comment was made that this data did not help us very much at the community college level. We requested that they work on providing us more detailed data that identifies institutional specific data. This way we can see how our institutions students are doing once they transfer to the 3 universities. This will also identify which CC's are doing poorly for some reason, and let us know that we need to change something to help our students succeed. This will also identify CC's that are doing very well, and we can try to identify best practices that can be shared with the group to ensure the success of all transfer students. This would be very valuable data, that we currently do not have access to, and would be our top request for improvements in data reporting. We were told to e-mail Rebecca McKay at AZTransfer to request this improvement in data reporting, so I sent an e-mail to her requesting this.

- The Exam Equivilancy Guide was discussed and a comment was made that we have been discussing this for a few years now, but it has not been very productive. It was proposed that the big 3 universities get together and make up their minds as to what should be deemed acceptable and what should not. Then all of the CC's will propose following what ever the decision of the big 3 universities is and then our discussion on this matter will be done. The big 3 universities agreed and set a date to get together and address this topic.

- The group discussed various methods that institutions were using to support retention and student success:
o Involvio.com (Is a mobile platform service to increase student engagement and push student activities for student run organizations.
o Online virtual tutoring with: WebEx or outsourcing to Pearson Smart Thinking
o Many CC's reported focusing on developing guided pathways
o ASU & NAU are using SalesForce.com - CRM Customer Relationship Management software across all aspects of the university's operations. (Advising, Registration, Instruction, Career & Job Placement, etc .) This software has been adopted by many businesses in many different industries and is now being actively integrated into educational institutions as well. (This may be something that we may want to consider utilizing as well.)
o ASU also has a new Bachelors Degree in Information Security
o Cochise CC is starting to use OER's in their Accounting courses

- I mentioned that:
o We received our final report from HLC and it stated that no corrective measures were identified. (We passed with flying colors)
o This year, our student body is officially over 25% Hispanic. We are now working on officially becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and CSN from Las Vegas is helping us transition to better serve our students.
o The MCC Business Program was identified by GreatValueColleges.net as the #3 Best Value for an Online Associates Degree in Small Business Management in 2017. I also mentioned that Mesa CC was identified as # 16 on the list of the Top 20 in the US as well.
o I mentioned that for some reason our Business Club became inactive many years ago, but we are starting it up again this year. I asked the other CC representatives for any advice and best practices after the meeting. (Top behind the scenes business tour companies in Phoenix were mentioned for us. Also partnering with either FBLA or DECA was mentioned as well.) ASU also mentioned that a survey they conducted with ASU students found that students who participated in 2 or more clubs reported significantly less homesickness.

- Plans for the next Fall 2018 meeting were made:
o Chair will be: Mike Fox at Eastern Arizona CC
o Host will be: ASU Tempe again
