Physics majors discover how and why physical matter works. Using mathematics physics students describe and explore the nature, structure, and interactions of matter and radiation and the laws that govern their nature. Physics also encompasses other sciences such as biology and chemistry. While pursuing a physics degree, students can follow a teaching track or prepare for graduate study. Incorporating more liberal arts coursework into a physics degree prepares students for careers requiring critical thinking and mathematic skills.

The general education component of this degree is a 35 unit block called the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC). You must complete the AGEC-S.
