Description: Overview of American nursing practice, including historical and current perspectives. Key components of transitioning to Registered Nurse role in the United States. Contrasting Registered Nurse roles in US and in other countries. Career development and successful transitioning to role of nurse in the United States

3. Identify professional and occupational nursing opportunities for career development. (III)
4. Describe the American health care workplace and role of registered nurse in health care system. (IV)
5. Explain key nursing competencies for safe, effective nursing practice in American health care settings, including organizational skills, communication modalities, and patient safety issues. (V, VI, VII)
6. Identify and demonstrate cultural competencies necessary for nursing practice. (VIII)
7. Contrast nursing practice in the US with that in one`s country of origin. (VIII)
