Description: Industry codes used by the trades. Pipe and duct installation practices. Procedure for the installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) equipment. Calculation of roof pitch and wire size for HVAC equipment. Start-up procedures for HVAC equipment



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Review of specific trade codes related to heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installation. (I)
2. Describe proper piping techniques for specific applications. (II)
3. Identify specific duct fittings. (III)
4. Explain the procedures for preparing a built-up roof to set a roof-curb. (IV)
5. Explain the procedures for setting a roof jack on a pitched roof . (V)
6. Calculate the pitch of a roof. (VI)
7. Calculate the wire size for a specific HVAC or refrigeration unit. (VII)
8. Select proper HVAC or refrigeration equipment based on design calculations. (VIII)
9. Explain the start-up procedure for specific equipment. (IX)
10. Calculate the pipe size for a specific site. (X)
11. Evaluate existing system versus proposed system and code updates. (XI)
