Description: The hero/heroine; fool, the social world, and the future as themes in the humanities



MCCCD Official Course Competencies
1. Describe and give examples of the classical hero, romantic hero, existential hero, and anti-hero. (I)
2. Describe and give examples of the fool. (I)
3. Describe various cultural views of the relationship of the self to the microcosm and to the macrocosm. (II)
4. Contrast modern and post-modern art, and analyze examples to determine the cultural values they reflect. (III)
5. Identify areas of inner and outer space that represent new frontiers for the future. (III)
MCCCD Official Course Competencies must be coordinated with the content outline so that each major point in the outline serves one or more competencies. MCCCD faculty retains authority in determining the pedagogical approach, methodology, content sequencing, and assessment metrics for student work.
